AFR/RC25/R16: Onchocerciasis The Regional Committee,
Considering the pernicious effects of onchocerciasis on social and economic development in the countries of the Region;
Noting the encouraging results obtained by the project Onchocerciasis control in the Volta River Basin,
1. REQUESTS the Regional Director to take appropriate measures to extend as soon as possible the sphere of application of the results of the Volta Basin Onchocerciasis control project to other countries of the Region where onchocerciasis constitutes a scourge;
2. URGES the Regional Director to coordinate present and future activities in onchocerciasis control with measures for the control of schistosomiasis and trypanosomiasis.
