STAFF ASSOCIATION ® 2819 - 4224

The information presented in the Staff Association section of the Bulletin is published under the sole responsibility of the C E R N Staff Association.

YOU ARE THE STAFF ASSOCIATION

Thanks to concerted action by members of the Staff Association, we have recently had the satisfaction of seeing some of the recommendations of the Staff Policy ("Darriulat") Group implemented ; in particu

lar, a Director of H u m a n Resources has been appointed t o instigate a new personnel policy.

Equally pleasing was the calculation of the 1986 index by the agreed method, as the Staff Association has consistently urged.

A further encouraging sign was seen a few weeks ago when the Director-General followed the recommen

dations of the Restaurant Supervisory Committee, in which Staff Association representatives have play

ed a very active role, when choosing the new concessionaires for the CERN restaurants.

BUT there is still a great deal to be done in certain areas, especially integration, reintegration and emplo

yment conditions as a whole (salaries, career structure, early retirement, flexitime, the education grant, the non-residence allowance and pensions).

YOU ARE THE STAFF ASSOCIATION : the success of its endeavours depends ultimately on you. Every

one has a duty to shape his or her own future and, by extension, that of the Organization. In the coming two years we will have to face up to decisions which will determine the future of CERN until the year 2000. The Staff Association will need your help to ensure that changes take place smoothly.

For the year 1987-1988 there are vacancies for delegates to the Staff Council (24 vacant posts and 28 for re-election)(*).

The elections will be at the end of May, so start thinking now about your election could benefit the Staff Association.

(*)For further information, telephone the Secretariat of the Association 4224.

ELECTIONS 1987

Elections of delegates on the Staff Council will be orga- nized soon after the Ordinary General Meeting.

The Staff Council determines the broad outlines of the Staff Association's policy.

Updated lists of electoral groups are displayed on the usual notice boards.

Delegates are elected for a period of two years.

The table overleaf shows the vacancies as well as the na- mes of those delegates whose mandate is not terminated.

The Staff Association is engaged in a very important programme concerning our social conditions (pensions, salaries, etc..) and defending these conditions can be best done by ourselves.

Show your concern by standing as a candidate.
