The UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee Letter of consent
Bindal coastal association and the Faragut association give their consent to the nomination to have Nordic rivet boat traditions inscribed on UNESCO's representative list of the
intangible cultural heritage of the Humanity.
Bindal coastal association and the Faragut association work together to preserve the
knowledge of the construction, operation and maintenance of the traditions associated with the "Bindalfcering", a traditional boat type from southern Nordland. We do this by
organizing activities and courses in boat building, sailing, rowing and traditional seamanship.
Both associations work actively to transfer the knowledge to children and young people where older boat builders and tradition bearers plays an active role as key resource persons.
We are now working to establish a center where the goal is to safeguard the knowledge about the clinker boats as living tradition heritage.
Bindal coastal association and the Faragut association have participated in the work about the nomination. In addition to local focus, we also believe it is important with Nordic and international cooperation to safeguard the knowledge about building and use of the clinker boats.

Samtykke til nominasjonen
Forbundet KYSTEN er en landsomfattende organisasjon for vern av norsk kystkultur.
Formalet er i samarbeid med andre kulturverninteresser a styrke var identitet som kystfolk.
Dette skal skje gjennom a:
• Fremme bevaring og allmenn bruk av tradisjonelle bater, bygninger, anlegg og kystmilj(Z) for (Z)vrig.
• Drive opplysningsarbeid for a 0ke forstaelsen for verdien av menneskelige og kulturelle tradisjoner i var kysthistorie.
• Vedlikeholde og utvikle tradisjoner i na=ring og handverk, sj(Z)mannskap og livsform 126 kystlag (lokallag) med totalt 10500 medlemmer er tilsluttet Forbundet KYSTEN.
Mesteparten av aktivitetene skjer lokalt og hvert kystlag er selvstendig i valg av strategi og aktiviteter.
Vern og videref(Z)ring av klinkbattradisjoner er en sentral del av Forbundet KYSTENs arbeid.
En rekke kystlag arrangerer jevnlig praktiske kurs i emner som klinkbatbygging, vedlikehold og restaurering av klinkbater, seiling, roing og friluftsliv med bruk av sma apne klinkbater.
Forbundet KYSTEN er aktivt medlem i nettverket Nordisk kystkultur.
Forbundet KYSTEN ble i 2016 akkreditert som radgivende organisasjon (NGO) av
generalforsamlingen til UNESCOs konvensjon for vern av den immaterielle kulturarven.
Vi gir herved vart samtykke til a fa nordiske klinkbatradisjoner nominert for innskriving pa UNESCOs representative liste over menneskehetens immaterielle kulturarv. Det nordiske samarbeidet om denne nominasjonen er godt forankret blant vare medlemmer og
tilsluttede kystlag. Prosessen med a involvere alle pa lokalt, nasjonalt og nordisk niva startet opp i 2015. Arbeidet med dette har skjedd gjennom mange m(Z)ter, seminarer, diskusjoner og gjennom vart tidskrift KYSTEN og sosiale medier. Forbundet KYSTEN vii spille en aktiv og ledende rolle i arbeidet med a utvikle felles nordiske vernetiltak som nevnt i
nominasjon teksten.

Letter of consent
The Norwegian Coastal Federation (Forbundet KYSTEN) is an organization (NGO) dedicated to the preservation of coastal culture and maritime heritage. Its mission - in cooperation with other preservers of cultural heritage is:
• Promoting the preservation and general use of traditional boats, buildings, and coastal heritage.
• Conducting informational activities aimed at increasing awareness of the value of the human and cultural traditions that make up our coastal history.
• Maintaining and developing traditions within intangible maritime heritage and handicrafts.
The main activities is carried out by the 126 local societies (10500 members) in our organisation and each local society is independent in selection of strategy and activities.
Safeguarding clinker boat traditions is one of the main activities in our organisation. Several local societies hold regular courses in clinker boat building, maintenance, restoration, sailing, rowing and outdoor life with such boats.
Forbundet KYSTEN is an active member in the nordic network Nordisk kystkultur (Nordic Coastal culture).
Forbundet KYSTEN was accredited to provide advisory services to the UNESCO ICH Committee in 2016.
We hereby give our consent for the nomination of Nordic Clinker Boat Tradition to be inscribed on the UNESCOs Representative list for the Intangible Cultural Heritage of The Humanity. This joint Nordic cooperation about this nomination is very well anchored by all the members and the local societies in Forbundet KYSTEN. The process of involving all on local, national and Nordic level started in 2015 and this work is done trough several meetings, seminars, discussions and trough our magazine "Kysten" (The Coast) and social medias. Forbundet KYSTEN will take part in and have leading role in the nordic plans for developing safeguarding measures as mentioned in the nomination file.
