5. Perspectives de recherche et conclusion
Cette thèse apporte un regard novateur sur la valeur prédictive des caractéristiques de préadmission sur la persévérance aux études à la maîtrise en sciences et technologies telle que définie par le modèle de persévérance aux études de Tinto (1997) et ouvre des perspectives de recherches futures sur cette problématique. Les recherches futures pourraient explorer l’effet d’autres variables jugées importantes dans le modèle de Tinto (1997) telles que les revenus et les niveaux d’éducation des parents en ce qui concerne le contexte familial, la personnalité des étudiants pour ce qui est des caractéristiques personnelles. D’autres variables importantes concernent les objectifs professionnels et les aspirations des étudiants. Au niveau de l’expérience du système universitaire, les interactions entre les étudiants et les pairs, les enseignants constituent une avenue à explorer pour permettre la prise de décision en vue de l’amélioration de la persévérance aux études. La recherche d’autres variables médiatrices au niveau du système universitaire est essentielle pour appréhender de façon holistique les interventions nécessaires pour réduire les inégalités liées aux caractéristiques de préadmission.
