Draft Resolution for action by the Economic and Social Council Sponsors; Algeria, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia.

The Economic and ..Social Council*

1- Takes note of the report of the Economic Commission for Africa for

the period 1 March 1968 - 2 February i%9 and the recommendations and

resolutions contained in parts II and III of that report;

2- Endoiaes the programme of, work and priorities contained in the

report; '

3»" Further endorses particularly, resolutions l87(ix) Commemoration of the Tenth .Anniversary of the Commission, l88(lX) Institutional Machinery

of the-Commission, l89(lX) Organization, Structure and Functions of the Commission and 19l(lX) Transitional provisions, taken in accordance with

Rule 19 of the Rules of Procedure of the Commission;

4- Endorses also resolution 19O(IX) Relations with the Organiaation of African Unity, taken in accordance with paragraph 12 of the Terms of

Reference of the Commission ;

5« Commends the Economic Commission for Africa on measures it has taken to expand its programme, particularly its operational activities 5 .

6- Further commends the secretariat of the Economic Commission for

Africa for its efforts during the first ten years of the Commission's existence, particularly its emphasis on self-reliance by African countries in their economic and social development efforts as indicated in the document entitled "A venture in Self-reliance - Ten years of ECAM (E/CEM4/424).
