COMMITTEE ON PROGRAMME
Draft résolut!on proposed by the delegation of Poland
V,HERE AS the Committee on Programme с Г the First World Health Assembly has unanimously allocate:! a high priority among the activities of the World Health Organization to the combating of venereal diseases, and
WHEREAS the World Health Organisation, i n order to perform its statutory functions and to carry out its inherited obligations i n relation to international combating of venereal infections, would benefit by the advice of competent specialists in the various branches of venereal-disease control i n different parts
of the world, the First World Health Assembly, i n approving the general programme for international combating of venereal diseases proposed by the Interim Commission,
RESOLVES
1 . that the Executive Board shall establish, during its first session, a committee to be called "Committee on Venereal Infections of the World Health Organization", which shall
act as an expert advisory bodyto the World Health Organization:
2» that the World Health Organization shall establish, within the Secretariat, a venereal-disease section, adequately staffed with a view;
( a ) to assist in implementing the recommendations of the Committee on Venereal Infections, as approved by the World Health Organization, and
( b ) to make i t possible for the World Health Organization to function as an international centre of co-ordination and intelligence i n the venereal-disease field»
