You may notice that the newsletter looks different this month. In response to your feedback and suggestions from the COA Board, we have made some format changes and added a Table of Contents to help you find information more quickly. We have also added dollar signs ($) on the calendar section so you will know which programs require a fee. Also new–photos!
In the picture above, 22 people braved a cold January morning to board a bus and head into Downtown Crossing in Boston. They signed up for Charlie Cards at the MBTA and enjoyed lunch and some free time in the city. Look for more fun “mini trips” coming soon!

New! FREE Mid-day Lexpress Rides for Senior/Disabled Riders
Lexpress is running a promotion from now until June 30, 2013 that allows senior/disabled riders to board free on routes departing Depot Square from 9:00 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. For more information about using Lexpress call Transportation Services at 781-861-1210.
Direct Lexpress Service to Senior Center
Lexpress will pick up passengers at the following times for direct service to the Senior Center and will return to Countryside, Greeley and Vynebrooke Villages at 12:46 p.m. This service is now FREE as part of the mid-day promotion mentioned above. Lex Connect Taxi Voucher Program
Lex Connect offers a half priced taxi ride for Lexington seniors and persons with a disability. The program oper- ates Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In town rides are $5 and out of town rides are $10. You must apply in person to use the program. Please call the Transportation Services office at 781-861-1210 or the Senior Center at 781-861-0194 for complete details– pre-registration is required. This program is sponsored by donations from the Friends of the COA and other gifts.
FISH: FREE rides to medical appointments provided by volunteer drivers to seniors who do not have alternative transportation. For further information or to schedule a ride call 781-861-9300 between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
and 1:00 p.m. FISH requires 48 hours notice to arrange a ride.

This program is a service provided by the Town of Lexington to seniors who are homebound and unable to easily access health screenings. The service includes regular home visits conducted by a registered nurse as well as consultation and home visits by a social worker if needed. We will travel to Parker’s Maple Barn (set in 1800’s dairy barn) in Mason, NH for an authentic Maple Sugar Feast of two scrambled eggs with bacon, pan- cakes with sausages, maple sugar, and your choice of beverage.
