The French Government has designated the Institute of Hygiene and
Bacteriology, Strasburg^ for the purposes of Article XI (8) of the international Convention for Aerial Navigation, 1944, amending the Convention of 1933, and requests W H O approval of such designation. In this connexion the footnote on the International Certificate of Immunity against Yellow Fever, annexed to the International Sanitaiy Conventions of 1944, statest "This certificate, is not valid unless the laboratory performing the blood test and the method employed have been approved by UNñíL'J1 (now by W H O ) »
In its statement supporting the desired designation, the French
Government observes th°t the laboratory concerned employs, as routine, the
method of M a x Theiler in cariying out its s^ro-protection tests on white mice by the intr?-cerebral route*
In accordance with the procedure for dealing with such matters laid down by the Executive Board a t its second session,^ the Director-General forwarded the application of the French Government, together with all relevant details, to those members of the Yellow Fever Panel concerned, viz: Médecin Général Cé Durieux, D r . A . F . Mahafíy, Dr. R.M. Taylor and D r , M . V . Veldee, and invited their
recommendations as to whether or not W H O approval of the Institute a t Strasburg should, for the purpose stated, be accorded•
