This issue of Adsorption is the fourth and the last of a series containing the manuscripts of the contributions presented at FOA9, the Ninth International Conference on Fundamentals of Adsorption that was held May 20–25, 2007 at Giardini Naxos in Sicily, Italy under the auspices of the International Adsorption Society (IAS). The previous three issues are 3/4 and 5/6 of Adsorption vol. 13 (2007), and 2/3 of Adsorption vol. 14 (2008). The four issues comprise 103 peer-reviewed papers, totaling more than 1,000 pages, and have been pub-lished on a first-come, first-served basis. All together they make an excellent, selected compilation of the adsorption science and technology, and of its applications, challenges
