Draft resolution

Concerning: ~ture programmes of work and priorities SponosQred gy:Malawi, Niger, Nigeria,' Sierra LeOne

The Economic Commission for Africa,

Noting the reoommendations of the ad hoo Committee of Experts to Examine the finanoe of the' United Nations and the Specialized Agencies, with regard to the need for long-term planning,

Recalling that the General Assembly by Resolution 2370(XXII) invited the Committee on Programme and Co-ordination to institute a system of long-term planning and programme formulation,

Havin~ considered Resolution 1264(XLIII) ,of the Economio and Social Council whioh requested its subsidiary oodies to draw up long-term programmes of wOI'k,

Notin~ that the Eoonomio and Social Council, 1:ly Resolution l378(XLV), endorsed the recommendations made 1:ly the Committee for Programme and Co- ordination ,to develop and adopt an integrated system of long-term planning, of programme formulation and of oudget preparationoovering all aotivities in the eoonomio and social fields,

Requests the Executive Secretary to present to future sessions of the Commission Programmes of Work and Priorities covering a period of six years, the proposals for the first two years being preoise and definitive, the proposals for the rest of the six year period as tentative plans., to be

refined and made more preoise for' suooessive periods of two years each based on the progress of work in the preoeding biennium, and relevant deoisions taken1:ly the Econcmio and Sooial Counoil and the General Assembly.
