Summary
RosmarinustournefortiiDe Noé (Lamiaceae) Synonym of Rosmarinuseriocalyxis a
fragrant plant thatgrowswild in the Mediterraneanregion and prefers a calcareoussoils. This speciesispresentfrom the semi-arid to Sahara bioclimatic stage (between 90 mm and 400 mm). The phytochemical screening, yield, chemical composition, antibacterial and antifungalpropertiesofthe essential oilobtainesfromR. tournefortiitotwo sites different in point of viewbioclimatic (Dhaya and Tenira) of the occidental region of Algeriawerestudied.
Essential oilsextractedfrom the stems, leaves and flowers of the plant fromthe regionswereanalyzedseparately by GC and GC / MS in electronionization mode. The identification of theirchemical compounds isproducedfromtheirKovats indices and by comparingtheir mass spectrawiththose in the database. These profiles show a quantitative and qualitative variability of their compounds.
The major components present in the aerial part are: camphor, 1,8 cineole, α-pinene, p-Cimen-7-ol,borneol and 3-pmenthene. These profiles show qualitative and quantitative variability of these compounds attheirorgans and their sites.
The study of the antimicrobialeffect of essential oil of R. tournefortiishowedthatthisoil has an inhibitoryeffectagainst the strainstested: Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis andBacillus cereusbut have lowantifungaleffectto Candida albicans and Aspergillus
brasiliensis. The wealth of TournefortiiDe Noé. withbiochemical compounds argues
favorably for him to use alternative medicine.
