PROBLEM 1

• Several students could not derive the head loss correctly.

• One student made mistake on parenthesis, so derived wrong velocity profile.

• Some of students skip the sub question of “(c)shear stress” or “(d)head loss” part.

• One student missed the density at the final form of velocity profile.

• One student indicated wrong sign at shear stress.

• One student could not derivative the velocity profile correctly, so derived wrong shear stress

PROBLEM 2

• Many students did not write the flow rate answer with m3/h.

• One student made only one iteration to get the ‘f’.

• Some of students could not pick up the correct value of ‘f’ from the Moody chart.

• Several students made mistake when they simplify the energy equation.

 One student indicated wrong unit for flow

 Some of students used inappropriate Non-dimensional values when they calculate model scale’s velocity..

 Several students could not transformed the model scale velocity to prototype velocity correctly so they derived wrong answer..

• Some student made wrong assumptions when applying momentum equations (i.e. not assuming v=0, not neglecting gravity for y-momentum). • Some students did not
