I, Andrey Kim, came to Kazakh aul during the years of bringing the virgin soil under cultivation, and so I grew up in that aul alongside Kazakh children. I studied in the same school as them, made friends, and played games with Asyks. We were never divided into Russians, Kazakhs, or Koreans. We shared everything. We all loved and played games with Asyks. The game is simple and does not require any expenses. Whenever our

parents slaughtered sheep or goats, they always gave as Asyks. We cherished and valued our Asyks. Today people don't play Asyks the way we used to do it. I still remember the rules of the games and the names of Asyks. I consider it very relevant to take games with Asyks under the protection of UNESCO.

I am Eskendir Rakhmetov

We must contribute to appeal the interest of youth and young generation of our country to play with Asyks, teach them to play it, because this game is one of the national games which is considered the heritage of the Kazakh people from ancient times.

In our childhood we grew up playing with Asyks from early morning till late night.

Thanks to the game with Asyks we learned how to be organized, play in a team and, most importantly, it accustomed us to the national upbringing. Moreover, playing with Asyks is useful for health, firstly, because you spend a lot of time in fresh air, secondly, because you are physically active for a long time while playing it, and, thirdly, to shoot an Asyk to a long distance you need some perseverance and training.

Nowadays a lot of tournaments are conducted in games with Asyks. We must advertise and support our national game through mass media. We must assure not to lose games with Asyks, and we think about the ways of developing and introducing it to UNESCO as part of our national heritage.

I am Zhapar Satylganov, an ethnographer, naturalist, and manager of "Andasai"

ethnological reservation in the Zhambyl oblast.

Kazakh game with Asyks has been the national game of Kazakh people from ancient times. Only in the last century there appeared a proverb "Who plays Asyks will be the worst and who plays ball will be the best", which was invented to prohibit playing it. We didn't have television and computers in our childhood, and the only game we played all day long were Asyks. We reserved a place to play with Asyks in our village, and all kids gathered there. Each person brought his own Asyks. A game with Asyks was very interesting and exciting. This game is useful for health, because player is always moving, his muscles are actively engaged, and the player learns to move quickly.

When shooting Asyks in a distance, a player develops his eyesight, learns to be a good shooter. Nowadays we try to revive this play. We mustn't lose games with Asyks, especially now when children move little and sit in front of their computers for a long time. We must keep game with Asyks and leave it to future generations. Therefore, I think it must be included to intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.

I, Vladimir Zemblevskiy, born in 1958, identify as Ukrainian. I am local to the village of Alaigyr in Karagandy region. I spent my childhood in the vastness of Kazakh steppes, imbibing on the life currents of the movement and heritage of nomads' games, in the spirit of which the children were brought up. For weeks we were obsessed with one game or another, as a result of which the child's body attained strength, agility, acumen, teamwork skills, and endurance. One of such games were Asyks. When going to sleep, every boy reflected upon the day, how many Asyks he lost or gained. Games with Asyks develop movement and hand-eye coordination, strategic skills in planning the game in children, creates inner composure, endurance, and will to win. I hereby request to take the game withAsyks under the protection of UNESCO as a part ofKazakh intangible cultural heritage.

About nomination of the sportive element "Assyk Games" to Intangible Cultural Heritage of Kazakh people

"Shooting Assyk" is an ancient (approximately 2000 years) game of nomadic people, Kazakh nation which was transmitted to generation from our ancestors as the national heritage.

This game is the important type of sport which teaches children to sniper ability and to be strong physically.

The wonderful side of Assyk is that it is a natural sportive product and you needn't to do it to play.

So it is considered as the national value of the Kazakh people.

I support the game "Shooting Assyk" to inscribe to the list of ICH.
