ABSTRACT
Acoustic emission, in conjunction with visual observation, was
monitored in a High Arctic field laboratory in multi-year
columnar-grained sea ice during uniaxial compression tests in a
wide range of loading rates.
AEobservations were compared
with the visual observation and an estimation of tensile
strength and its rate sensitivity was made from the data
obtained.
