Industrial Promotion Centres

The Economic Commission for Africa,

Recalling ECA resolutions L53(VIIl) on industry and

conference of industrialists and financiers.

Considering the report of the SCA secretariat on the conference on

industry and finance held in'Addis Ababa on March 25-27, 1968 (document-

. Appreciates the efforts of the ECAl secretariat in this respect;

Calls on UNIDO, UNDP, ADP, donor countries, and other international organisations, e.g., AFRASEC, to extend their assistance in establishing

industrial promotion centres in the four African sub-regions, in their financing and in supplying.the experts needed for their efficient operation^.

Requests that these centres co-operate with corresponding national machinery and render assistance, on request, by member States;

Requests the Executive Secretary to -initiate immediate Gonsultations with African governments, UN Agencies, ADB, and donor countries for the setting up of sub-regional or/and multinational industrial promotion

centres and for securing the. technical and financial resources required for

this purpose. ,' .
