Report of the Regional Director

l. By resolution AFRlRC30fR6, the Regional Committee, at its thirtieth session, approved the procedure of coordinating the agendas of the Governing Bodies of WHO at global and regionallevels.

2. Pursuant to Article 50 of the Constitution, operative paragraph 4(3) of Resolution WHA33.17, and Recommendation 16 of the Executive Board Working Group, the Regional Committee is invited to consider the provisional agenda of its fiftieth session and decide on issues that should be recommended to the one-hundred-and-fifth session of the Executive Board and the Fifty-third World Health Assembly.

1. Thç World Health Assembly, in its Resolution WHA33.17, determined that WHO's directing, cc·ordinating and technical cooperation functions are mutua1ly supportive and decided that the work of

th~ Organization at all levels should be interrelated. Thus, the Provisional Agenda of the Regional c,)mmittee is drawn up so as to harmonize it, to the extent possible, with those of the Executive Board ard the World Hea1th Assembly. This will enhance the contribution of the African Region to the work of the Gov~rning Bodies.

2. The following table shows the correlation between the agendas of the Executive Board (EBlO5, January 2000), the Fifty-tlùrd World Hea1th Assembly (May 2000) and the fiftieth session of the Regional Committee (September 2000) . . The Regional Committee may wish to identify issues of regional and gbbal interest which could he recommended to the Executive Board.

DRAFT PROVISIONAL AGENDAS OF THE ONE-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTH EXECUTIVE BOARD AND THE FIFTY -TIDRD WORLD HEAL TH ASSEMBL y

1. In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Executive Board, the provisional agenda of each session of the Board shall be drawn up by the Oirector-General in consultation ,vith the Board's C:ll1irman. It shall be dispatched with the notice of convocation six weeks before the commencement of

a ;eSSIOn.

2. The attached indicative list of items for the I05th session of the Executive Board will be the subject of further consultation between the Director-General and the Cbairman. It inc1udes items requested by

th~ Health Assembly or the Board at a previous session, proposed by members of the Board, and proposed

b~ the Director-GeneraL It is submitted to the regional committees for information.

3. In accordance ,vith the Rules of Procedure of the Health Assembly, the Board shaH prepare the provisional agenda of each regular session of tbe Health Assembly after consideration of proposais subrnitted by the Oirector-General.
