St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church is dedicated to continuing the mission of Jesus Christ in the Franciscan tradition. We are now witnessing the highest levels of displacement on record. An unprecedented 65.3 million people from around the world have been forced from home.
Among them are nearly 21.3 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18.
They are displaced or stateless due to natural disasters, famine, climate changes, violence, or war. Imagine being the parent of a sick and hungry child and having to decide between risk- ing your lives staying in a conflict zone or leaving behind everything in search of safety. Each year on June 20th the United Nations and countless civic groups around the world celebrate World Refugee Day. This recognition day was established by the United Nations to honor the courage, strength, and determination of children, women, and men who are forced to flee their homes under the threat of persecution, conflict, and violence. Millions need your help. Please pray for all refugees and for those elected to protect human rights.

This year’s Archdiocese of Atlanta Eucharistic Congress entitled “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” is scheduled for

and will focus on the beautiful relation- ship between the Eucharist and family. As in decades past, the Eucharis- tic Congress offers thousands of Catholics in and around Georgia the opportunity to gather as the Body of Christ, to be fed by the Body of Christ; literally through the Eucharist and Adoration, and through the Word proclaimed. The Archdiocese of At- lanta’s Justice and Peace Ministries together with Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) Helping Hands meal packing program will once again offer a unique opportunity to help the Catholic faithful from across Georgia and the Southeast put their faith into action through a Eucharistic event that draws on the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. “The Eucharist commits us to the poor. To receive in truth the Body and Blood of Christ given up for us, we must recognize Christ in the poorest, His brethren.”El Congreso Eucarístico de la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta de este año, titulado 'En cuanto a mí y a mi casa, serviremos al Señor' está programado para

Over 60 women attending the 3-day weekend retreat (May 5-7) experienced a personal encounter and conversa- tion with the Risen Lord and were transformed with renewed spirituality, peace and joy, new friends, and a greater enthusiasm for service. Watch for future retreat opportunities in Spanish and English.

Summer Faith Formation for Elementary School: June 12-16 and June 19-23, Monday-Friday, 9:15am-12:15pm. Children who attend every day of this 2-week program will satisfy the requirements for attendance in Religious Education classes for the 2017-2018 school year and will be eligible to begin Reconciliation & Eucharist prepa- ration in the Fall. Register in the Religious Education Office on Sundays from 10:30am- 1:30pm or Monday-Thursday 9:00am-2:00pm. Online registration is also available.
Summer Volunteer Opportunities—Teachers, Activity/Prayer/Music/Hospitality/Snack teams are needed for the Summer Program (June 12-16 & 19-23) and for Vacation Bi- ble School. Important Confirmation Information
: The Archdiocese requires two years of faith formation prior to receiving Confirmation. Attending the Summer Program will allow a teenager to “make up” a missing year. This program is open to all teens who will be in the 9th through 12th grades in the Fall of 2017. CAMP HIGH FIVE
is a week-long residential summer camp that provides recreational and educa- tional activities to children who are infected or affected by HIV and AIDS. The 2017 Camp will be held from June 18—June 23 at Camp Twin Lakes in Winder . Anyone who may be inter ested in volunteer - ing should go to the H.E.R.O.
