As Pope John Paul II said, “The re- sponsibility for the seminary belongs to the entire Christian community”. This Archdiocese is blessed with several men who are responding to a call for priestly service to Atlanta Archdiocese people. This generous gift of God is a blessing for this Archdiocese, but does pose a challenge to us.These men need both our financial support and our prayers.
Please provide a sound future for the seminarians here in the Archdiocese of Atlanta by giving generously to the Arch- diocesan Seminarians’ Collection.

Today we begin Holy Week and the final pages of the Good News begin to unfold for us; we move from our shouts of “hosanna” today, to our cries of “crucify him” on Good Friday, and finally to the joyful “alleluias” that we anticipate for Easter Sunday. Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again! We are born anew into a new world. During Jesus’ last week on earth, what must have been running through His mind? Could it have been a time of great agitation and ambiguity—reconciling Himself to His own pending sacrifice while seeing how the disciples seemed unprepared and unready to carry on His work? They gave no indication they were capable—but Jesus loved them anyway. On the night He gave Himself up, He sat with His disciples and friends, He broke bread and blessed a cup of wine, and He offered one last gesture of unity and grace—He washed their feet. Within hours one would betray Him and others would abandon Him—He loved them anyway. And then the crowds. Those who shouted His praise, then drifted away—those who screamed for His blood—those who cheered the lashes—those who mocked and spit and abused. He faced an unbelievable and unbearable rejection from the very people He came to save—and He loved them anyway. He forgave them. This is a love that few can comprehend. Jesus loves us all. As God is love, so Jesus is an eter- nal manifestation of this love—unbridled love, unbounded love, unconditional love—love without limits. Despite all our failings and sins, Jesus loves us anyway! Holy Week gives us the opportunity to take a good look at ourselves and honestly acknowledge our failings and imperfections. The incredible sacrifice of Jesus humbles and shames us. We waste time thinking and talking ABOUT God, instead of spending time WITH God. We take for granted the glorious gift of faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. But at the same time, we see hope, potential—not only what we have not been and am not, but what we could be. By the grace of God, we can catch a glimpse of what Jesus might see and know that we are still loved—and that makes all the difference in the world.

Holy Week
The last week of Lent is the holiest time of the year forChristians, when we remember the events of Jesus’ suffering and death. If there is ever a time to do some extra praying, fasting, almsgiving, and spend extra time in church, it is now. The Sunday before Holy Week is Palm or Passion Sunday, when we remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem—as we receive a palm branch and process into church. The three days before Easter are called the Triduum. On Holy Thursday, we commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper when He shared His body and blood with His friends. The washing of the feet of 12 people is in remembrance of Jesus washing the feet of the Apostles. On Good Friday, the Passion of Lord, we remember that Jesus suffered and died on the cross for each of us. At the Good Friday service we venerate (honor) the cross. Holy Saturday is the celebration of the Vigil of Easter and when we welcome and celebrate new members (the Elect) as they receive the sacraments. At the Easter Vigil Mass a new fire is lit and blessed to remind us that Jesus is the Light who wins over the darkness of sin. From that fire, the priest lights the large and beautiful Paschal Candle. From that single flame smaller candles are lit, filling the whole church with light. Bells ring joyfully and we all sing, “Alleluia!” “This is the night,” says the priest, “when Jesus Christ broke the chains of death and rose triumphant from the grave.”

La última semana de Cuaresma es el momento más sagrado del año para los cristianos, cuando recorda- mos los eventos de sufrimiento y muerte de Jesús. Si hay un tiempo para orar más, ayunar, dar limosnas y pasar más tiempo en la iglesia, es ahora. Earth Day 2017 Volunteers Needed!
On April 22 from 9:00am-12:00pm, volunteers are needed to: help weed and spruce Church grounds, plant seeds and plants in garden, plant fruit trees. Bring shovels, garden gloves, and pruning shears. Volunteers are also needed to care for the garden oin a daily basis from late April through summer—to water, weed, pick vege- tables. (Vegetables are picked on Wednesday and Friday mornings and delivered to St Vincent de Paul. During this Lent and Easter season we will see additional numbers at all Masses.
Families will have out of town visitors and some who have no church affiliation will attend Mass at St. Philip’s. Please be respectful of fellow parishioners and visitors.
There are many parking spaces in lots on the side and rear of the Church. It is not necessary to park along the curb in front of, on the side of, or the back of the Church. The San Damiano parking lot is reserved for Seniors and those with handi- cap parking permits. All other handicap parking spots should be reserved for those with permits, including the ones behind the church. Also, observe the areas marked “NO PARKING” in front of the parish hall and white garage as well as other curbside areas around the prop- erty. These areas must be kept clear for emergency vehicles and access to the garage. Parking problems should not mar our observance of this holy season—think, “What would Jesus do?”

Las familias tendrán visitantes de otras ciudades y algunos que no tienen afiliación religiosa asistirán a las misas aquí en San Felipe. Por favor, sea respetuoso con los feligreses y visitantes. Hay muchos espacios de estacionamiento en la parte del lado y la parte posterior de la iglesia. No es necesario estacionar a lo
