Item 16 of the provisional agenda : Election of the members of the Bureau of the third session of the Committee
Decision required: paragraph 4
1. In accordance with Rules 12 and 13 of its Rules of Procedure, the Committee, at the end of each ordinary session, shall elect its Bureau consisting of a Chairperson, one or more Vice- Chairpersons and a Rapporteur who shall remain in office until the end of the next ordinary session.
2. In accordance with Rule 13.3 of the Rules of Procedure of the Committee, the Chairperson, the Vice-Chairpersons and the Rapporteur shall be eligible for immediate re-election for a second term of office, provided that the country that each represents continues to be a State Member of the Committee at least until the end of the new term of office. In electing the Bureau, the Committee shall have due regard to the need to ensure equitable geographical representation and, inasmuch as possible, a balance among the various fields of the intangible cultural heritage (Rule 13.4).
3. Pursuant to Article 6.3 of the Convention, the term of office of half of the current States Members of the Committee is limited to two years (Resolution 1.EXT.GA 5). Accordingly, the States Members of the Committee indicated hereunder, whose terms of office continue until 2010, shall be eligible for election to the posts of Chairperson, Vice-Chairpersons and Rapporteur of the third session of the Committee:
Group I: Turkey Group IV: India Viet Nam Group II: Belarus
Estonia Hungary
Group V(a): Central African Republic Gabon
Mali Group III: Mexico
Peru
Group V(b): United Arab Emirates
4. The Committee may wish to adopt the following decision:
DRAFT DECISION 2.COM.16 The Committee,
1. Elects * * * (Name/State Member) as Chairperson of the Committee, 2. Elects * * * (Name/State Member) as Rapporteur of the Committee,
