Prerequisites

It is advisable to have acquired the knowledge of the subject of Anatomy and Physiology of the Locomotor Apparatus, Foundations in Physiotherapy, Human Pathology, Clinical Evaluation in Locomotor Apparatus Physiotherapy, and Physiotherapy of the Locomotor I and II.

Objectives and Contextualisation

The subject is programmed in the third year of the Physiotherapy degree and forms part of the group of physiotherapy subjects of the locomotor system.

The competences of the subject are:

Be able to develop the knowledge acquired in previous subjects in the clinical field of treatment of pathologies of the locomotor system.

Be able to perform a functional assessment of the person suffering from any pathology of the locomotor system and be able to develop a physiotherapeutic diagnosis.

Knowing how to set therapeutic goals and develop a plan of physiotherapy.

Know how to apply the different physiotherapy techniques and be able to analyze, adapt and control the results. Resolve clinical cases susceptible to physiotherapeutic treatment in the field of musculoskeletal system disorders.

The subject focuses on physiotherapy applied to pathologies of the locomotor system and, specifically, to the pathology of the spine: traumatic, rheumatological, orthopedic and degenerative.

Methodology

This subject is based on a theoretical-practical teaching.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment

The FINAL evaluation of the subject will consist of:

- Test type test of the contents taught in the theoretical classes (25% weight of the final grade). This test will consist of 40 type-test questions (with four response options of which only one will be valid and the answers wrongly answered will deduct 0.33).

Unsolved questions will not subtract points. Minimum grade to pass: 5.

-clinical case, in which it will be required to establish objectives, specify hypotheses, propose exploratory tools to determine a diagnosis in physiotherapy and propose a therapeutic treatment of physiotherapy. (25% of the final grade) A 5 is required to pass.

- A practical and / or test-type evaluation through objective and structured clinical evaluation (35% weight of the final grade). The student must apply clinical reasoning and / or perform any of the exploratory and / or therapeutic techniques of physiotherapy on the dysfunctions or pathologies discussed in the seminars and theoretical classes. In the case of multiple choice, this test will consist of ten true or false questions (the correct questions add one point, the wrong questions subtract 1 point and the unanswered questions do not subtract). Minimum mark to pass: 5.

- Evaluation of specialized seminars: Assessment exercises associated with the seminars. Attendance at the seminars. Participation in seminars. Completion of 1 work related to the problems or cases related to the seminars, in a group form. Minimum grade to pass: 5. The percentage of each part to the final grade of the subject will be: 50% + 35% note of the two examinations, 10% note of presentation of research of the scientific papers and assistance / participation in specialized seminars 5%. - Attendance / participation (5% final grade) will be assessed as follows: between 80% -100% attendance will be 10. Attendance below 80% will be 0. To apply these percentages, it is essential to have a minimum of 5.00 in the test type examinations. In the case of having a score of 0.00 in the four parts of the assessment, the student will be considered NOT AVALUABLE. The final grade of the subject will have a numerical expression, with a decimal, on the 0-10 scale and with the qualitative equivalence in accordance with the criteria of the UAB, of suspense, approved, remarkable and excellent (with the option of obtaining the qualification of Honor Matrícula). The procedure for reviewing the tests will be in accordance with the current regulations of the UAB and in any case, it will be individually, upon written request within the established deadlines. Students who have not passed the subject / module through continuous assessment may submit to a final exam or a final recovery test. In the case of not approving someone or the two exams, a recovery exam was performed with the same morphological character of the test. Minimum grade to pass: 5. The maximum grade that the student can obtain will be a PASS.
