622 Final Project (Implementation) Week 10

Purpose: To conduct an implementation of one of your evaluation tools (Formative, Summative or Usability) for the purpose of data collection, analysis, and conclusion. This assignment will complete the outcomes for evaluating the effectiveness of curriculum design and instructional delivery.

In prior 622 projects you developed Formative and Summative Evaluation tools as well as a Usability testing instrument. In each case you were asked to design the tool for evaluating the instruction in either its formative stage, the summative stage, or for testing the functionality of the design/prototype. Now you are being asked to implement one of those tools. The tool you select may be dependent on availability of target audience or completion of your project.

Because you all have developed a prototype for Dyad 2, my expectation is that you could at least implement the usability testing if either of the other two evaluations were not possible.

NOTE: Since most of you will be implementing the tool with your existing students as your target audience, the evaluations should fall within the normal structure of classroom

evaluations. However, if you have any reason to believe that your evaluation falls within the framework of Human Subjects research, please contact the Committee for Human Subjects Chair, Chip Lenno, CSUMB Technology Support Services, 100 Campus Center, Building. 43, Seaside CA 93955, (831)582-4799.

Design

the testing protocol appropriate to your selected tool.

If additional forms are needed, be certain that you have those in place. Determine the target audience and testing conditions such as time and place, necessary paperwork, any instructions, etc. If you are implementing your Usability tool be careful not to instruct or coach your participants on the details of how to perform a task. A thorough description of this protocol must be included in your final report.

Implement the tool: have the students complete the survey/questions; do a complete work- up and analysis of both the quantitative and the qualitative data, tabulating the results of both, computing, at a minimum, the measures of central tendency; and, report out your findings, articulating just what the data indicate. (You may use Excel or any other statistical software that enables you to present your data in both tabulation form and graphical form.) Finally, a discussion of how you will use the feedback to improve the instructional materials or

prototypes, indicating just what changes you plan to make. Be sure to include the evaluation tools used by your learner as part of your report and a brief summary description of your participants. Word process your document and submit to BB on date due.

Scoring rubric:

260-234 pts 233-208 pts 207-182 pts 181-156 pts

Testing protocol is evident and very well designed; thorough work-up of data and analysis presented; high- level conclusions based on data; and, thorough description of findings.

analysis presented;

strong conclusions based on data; and, good description of findings.

Testing protocol is evident and

adequately designed;

adequate work-up of data and analysis presented; adequate conclusions based on data; and, adequate description of

findings.
