Addis Ababa, 21 November, 2013 - The Steering Committee of the Joint Secretariat of the tripartite partnership of the African Union Commission, UN Economic Commission for Africa and the African Development Bank held its fourth meeting since inception this week with the deputies of the three institutions in attendance. The Joint Secretariat, which set up a support office at the ECA in 2010 plays a key role in strengthening synergies among the three institutions and fosters stronger institutional and programmatic linkages.

The meeting introduced the new JSSO coordinator, Mr. Christian Georges Diguimbaye who took up office at the beginning of November 2013. Diguimbaye is a Chadian national and is a long serving staff of the AfDB. Prior to his current appointment he served his Government as Minister of Finance and Budget. Mr. Diguimbaye brings a wealth of diplomatic and technical experience that is expected to immensely benefit the work of the JSSO. The Steering Committee comprised the Deputy Chairperson of AUC, the Deputy Executive Secretary of ECA and the Vice President of AfDB. The 21st November meeting was chaired by Mr. Erastus Mwencha, AUC, Deputy Chairperson.

The JSSO has played a key role in strengthening common positions on climate change and infrastructure development in the last few years.
