RÉSUMÉ
L’évolution dans le
temps
descheptels
animaux tant au niveau desélevages qu’au
niveauglobal,
Or ladyna- mique
descheptels

d’animaux croissentexponentiellement
à la mêmevitesse)
et stationnaire(la
compo- sition et l’effectif ducheptel
sontconstants).
La relation entre les
propriétés
et les variables de contrôle estanalysée.
SUMMARY
MODEL OF DEMOGRAPHIC FORECASTING APPLIED TO ANIMAL HERDS
Both at the farm and at the
aggregate level,
herdsundergo important
fluctuations withtime,
which entaillarge disequilibria.
Thedynamics
of a herds is the result of thedemographic
featuresof the
species
under the influence of the decisions of farmers(control variables). Forecasting
me-thods
currently
used are based either on apartially demographic approach,
or on economic modeisexcluding demographic
features. The purpose of this paper is to
integrate
all thedemographic parameters
in onemodel, includ- ing
besides control variablesshowing
farmer’s decisions and their economic behavior. The
demographic
model is formulated as alinear,
differenceequations system,
or in matrix notation :Xt+l ! M t X t
where Xtis the state vector of the herd andM t
is a summary of demo-graphic
features and control variables.The
dynamic
laws of abreeding
herd are then obtained from thismodel, taking
the control variables asparameters.
It is shown thatsteady
states of balancedgrowth (X t
is collinear to acharacteristic vector of
M),
and astationary
state exists, whichdepends only
on the matrixM,
when its coefficients are constant over time. Therelationships
between thesesteady
states and thecontrol variables are
