TITRE : Prise en charge nutritionnelle des pancréatites aiguës du chien et du chat
RESUME : Les pancréatites aiguës sont de plus en plus fréquemment diagnostiquées chez le chien et le chat, bien que leur diagnostic de certitude demeure délicat. Le traitement est essentiellement symptomatique et l’aspect diététique est loin d’être négligeable. La mise à jeun du patient n’est plus préconisée car l’alimentation par voie orale n’entraînerait pas d’aggravation de l’inflammation. On recommande désormais un soutien nutritionnel précoce par voie entérale pour lutter contre les altérations du métabolisme et contre l’apparition d’un état de dénutrition. Le choix de l’aliment à administrer doit tenir compte de l’état pathologique du patient et des effets des nutriments sur les sécrétions pancréatiques. L’étude de cas cliniques récoltés dans trois structures vétérinaires a permis de confronter les pratiques courantes des vétérinaires aux recommandations actuelles en matière de prise en charge nutritionnelle et notamment d’examiner les caractéristiques des aliments donnés aux patients.

ENGLISH TITLE: Nutritional management of acute pancreatitis in dogs and cats
ABSTRACT: Acute pancreatitis is more and more diagnosed in dogs and cats, although this disease remains diagnostically challenging. The treatment of acute pancreatitis is mainly symptomatic but the nutritional aspect should not be neglected. To fast the patient is not recommended anymore since oral intake is not responsible for the inflammation worsening. Early enteral nutritional support is now advisable, in order to avoid metabolic dysfunctions and the emergence of malnutrition. The pathological state of the patient and the effects of nutrients on pancreatic secretions should be considered in the choice of the food used for assisted feeding. Clinical cases from three veterinarian clinics were recorded in this document in order to compare general practice attitudes to current nutritional guidelines. It was meant to analyse more particularly what the patients were fed.
