Quant aux recherches futures, il serait intéressant de comparer les résultats de la présente étude à ceux observés auprès d’un échantillon de couples de la communauté. Nous pourrions ainsi vérifier s’il existe des particularités propres à ces deux populations dans l’association entre le jumelage des catégories d’attachement et l’insatisfaction sexuelle des deux conjoints. Il serait également primordial de se pencher plus particulièrement sur les variables expliquant les difficultés et les problèmes sexuels des personnes craintives et détachées, dans le but d’intervenir efficacement auprès d’eux. De plus, il serait important d’examiner d’autres aspects de la sexualité chez ces individus : fréquence des activités sexuelle, anxiétés sexuelles, dysfonctions sexuelles, schémas sexuels, etc. Enfin, nous considérons que de s’intéresser à l’évolution du pairage des styles d’attachement tout au long de la thérapie, ou au fil des étapes de la vie des conjoints apporterait davantage d’informations, toujours dans le but de bien cerner les difficultés conjugales afin de mieux traiter les couples en thérapie.
