MISCELLANEOUS COMMANDS PINQUIRE Command

The PINQUlRE command provides the central operator with a status report for a specific RJE line or for all lines. Line status can be: processing, inactive, not initiated, or not supported.

• Processing. The remote user has entered a valid SIG~ON command. In this case, the remote-id is displayed together with the line status.

• Inactive. The line has been started by the central operator with a PSTART command, but no user is currently signed on.

• Not· initiated. The line has not been started by the central operator.

• Not supported. During POWER/VS generation, no PLINE macro was specified for this line.

Iineaddr. Specifies the line address associated with the RJE task. Its format is:

ALL. The status of all supported lines are to be displayed.

Example:

PINQUIRE ALL Display the status of all supported lines.

PBRDCST Command

PACCOUNT Command

The PBRDCST command enables the central operator to communicate with remote users. Messages can be submitted for one specific user or for all users.

Messages generated by the PBRDCST command are stored in virtual storage and dis-played only on request of the remote user. Up to 14 messages can be queued.

Messages of the ALLUSERS-type are queued and given a message sequence number. The PDISPLA Y command can be used to obtain the actual number.

remid. Specifies the remote-id to which the command applies. Remote users can be identified by numbers from 1 to 200. A specification of 0 indicates the central location,

and a specification of ALLUSERS indicated all users.

'text'. Specifies the text of the message. The message can consist of from 1 to 40 characters enclosed in single quotation marks. A single quotation mark within the message must be written as two quotation marks.

Examples:

PBRDCST IS0,'RJE will be shut down in 30 min.'

PBRDCST ALLUSERS,'Service resumes at 8.00 a.m.'

Broadcast the message to the user whose remote-id is 150.

Broadcast the message to all users in the system.

The P ACCOUNT command can be issued at any time to save the accumulated account file records. The operator is notified by a warning message when the account me becomes 80% full.

If any POWER/VS task requires an account record and there are no free records, a message is issued, and the task requesting the account record is placed in the wait state until the account file is emptied by the P ACCOUNT command. After a message is issued stating "ACCOUNT FILE SAVED", the entire DASD space allocated to the me is available for more account records.

It is the user's responsibility to process the accounting information.

If no operand is specified in the P ACCOUNT command, the account fue is spooled to disk. It is stored with priority 1 in output class P with DISP=H in the punch queue. In order to get the account information punched, the operator can start a punch write task on output class P.

PSETUP Command

tapeaddr. Specifies the tape on which the fue is to be written. Its format is:

cuu or X' cuu'

Optionally, the density and mode of the output tape can be specified in the format X'ss'. Before any record is written to the specified tape, label checking is performed.

filename. If mename is specified along with tapeaddr, the me created will be a standard labeled tape fue. "fuename" is one to eight alphameric characters long. A standard label for the tape me must be present on the label cylinder. If a fuename is not specified, the fue will be a standard unlabeled DOS/VS tape fue containing variable length records.

DISK,fdename. Specifies that the POWER/VS account fue is to be written to disk.

"fuename" is one to eight alphameric characters long.

It is the user's responsibility to store label information for a sequential disk output me on the label cylinder. The disk fue created is a copy of the II AFILE. The device type on which the receiving fue resides must be the same as the device type on which IIAFILE resides.

DEL. Specifies that the account me records are to be deleted.

Examples:

Save the account me on an unlabelled tape mounted on tape unit X'280'.

Delete all account me records.

Spool account me records to punch queue.

The PSETUP command can be entered only after message 1 Q40A, requesting a special forms mount, is displayed. It causes n pages of spooled list data to be printed. All printable characters of the page are replaced by the character X. During the printing of the n pages, the operator can manually align the printer forms and can reissue PSETUP as many times as is necessary.

The number of pages printed by PSETUP will be counted and stored separately in the list account record.

When the PGO command is issued to resume printing, the pages are printed again with their original contents.

PSETUP uraddr[,n]

Operands

uraddr. Specifies the unit record device associated with the write task. Its format is:

cuu or X'cuu'

n. One or two digits that specify the number of pages to be printed. If n is omitted, only one page is printed.
