Ao longo da elaboração desta tese, foram sentidas algumas limitações, sendo a primeira resultante do impedimento da realização do Tema proposto, inicialmente, no Trabalho de Projeto, que seria : “Análise Económica do Tratamento Cirúrgico do Aneurisma da Aorta Abdominal: perspetiva custo-benefício”. Neste estudo iria ser apresentada uma análise económica na dimensão custo-benefício do tratamento cirúrgico do AAA pelas duas abordagens, Convencional e EVAR. Contudo, ao longo da colheita de dados, obteve-se bastante dificuldade em obter os dados a nível de custos, o que impediu a realização deste tema inicialmente proposto.

Deste modo e de acordo com os dados obtidos definiu-se como alternativa, o tema que foi abordado nesta tese.

Limitações a nível de colheita de dados foram novamente sentidas, uma vez que, tratando-se de dados clínicos com um período temporal de mais de 6 anos não se encontravam presentes em arquivos hospitalares, havendo a necessidade de requisitos a empresas de arquivo de dados clínicos hospitalares, o que prolongou o tempo pretendido para a recolha de dados. Observou-se também ausência de registos clínicos e falta de rigor na sua elaboração, mesmo depois da introdução de registos clínicos eletrónicos, o que mais uma vez limitou o percurso satisfatório da presente tese.

Apesar destas limitações, continua-se a perspetivar um caminho de necessidade de implementação de avaliações que permitam cada vez mais medir a qualidade dos procedimentos cirúrgicos que são introduzidos numa unidade hospitalar, de forma a poder observar a sua taxa de sucesso, compará-la com a de outras unidades hospitalares e diminuir os erros obtidos, através da análise das suas complicações.

A nível de estudos económicos, a presente análise apresentada no capítulo 3.2.2, apesar de limitadora, cria a perspetiva de novos estudos futuros, possivelmente com dados mais abrangentes.
