Os copolímeros de CMC-g-Jeffamine® M-2070 e CMC-g-Jeffamine® M-1000 foram sintetizados com sucesso por meio de uma reação de acoplamento utilizando o EDC e NHS como iniciadores. A reação foi comprovada pelo aparecimento da banda de carbonila de amida no espectro de IV. O grau de enxertia foi analisado por RMN 1H, sendo de 9,52% para o copolímero de CMC-g-Jeffamine® M-1000 e 14,14% para o copolímero de CMC-g- Jeffamine® M-2070.

Ficou claro que a presença de sal afeta a CPT por meio do efeito “salting out”. Visualmente observou-se, por exemplo, que os copolímeros só turvaram nas situações em que estavam solubilizados em K2CO3.

Para o copolímero de CMC-g-Jeffamine® M-1000, as análises reológicas evidenciaram que, em K2CO3 0,6M, sob baixas taxas de cisalhamento, o copolímero

apresentou comportamento termoassociativo resultante das associações físicas reversíveis dos microdomínios hidrofóbicos, apresentando maiores valores de viscosidade quando o sistema polimérico foi aquecido a 60°C do que a 25°C. Os resultados obtidos na análise de espalhamento de luz dinâmico corroboram esse comportamento, já que o valor de tamanho de partícula a 60°C foi superior ao obtido a 25°C. O espectro de UV-vis elucidou esse comportamento através da turvação do meio, onde a solução de copolímero turvou ao atingir 43ºC. Um segundo pico foi observado no espectro de UV-vis, o efeito teve início ao atingir 58°C e se estendeu até 65°C, onde ocorreu precipitação das cadeias. Estes resultados corroboraram os resultados obtidos com as medidas reológicas, já que a turvação do sistema também foi evidenciada em elevadas temperaturas. A CPT do copolímero foi de 43°C. Os valores de viscosidade alcançados pelo copolímero em temperaturas elevadas (T > 58°C) foram superiores aos valores obtidos para a CMC sozinha, qualificando o polímero para aplicabilidade na indústria quando se almeja bom desempenho viscosificante a elevadas temperaturas.

Para o copolímero CMC-g-Jeffamine® M-2070, o perfil termoassociativo também foi elucidado em K2CO3 0,6M nas medidas reológicas e de espalhamento de luz dinâmico, tendo

este apresentado valores superiores de viscosidade e de tamanho de partícula a 40°C do que a 25°C. A análise de UV-vis em K2CO3 0,5M indicou que a temperatura de turvação deste

tão significativos quanto os alcançados pela CMC-g-Jeffamine® M-1000, mas ainda assim foram superiores aos alcançados pela CMC em baixas taxas de cisalhamento.
