ARIMNet RATIONALE

Agriculture and Food systems are major issues in the Mediterranean

economies, in terms of : economics, employment, rural development,

natural resources management..

Mediterranean countries agricultures are facing similar problems and

challenges: climate change, water scarcity, natural resources

degradation, food security, animal and plant diseases.

Mediterranean issues are too often looked each side separately, while

they need to be considered and addressed jointly.

Agricultural Research Capacities in the Mediterranean are scattered and

fragmented.

ARIMNet, ARIMNet2 : 10 years of cooperation

ARIMNet (2008-2013): 1st ERA-NET funded by the EU (FP7) on

agricultural R&I involving south Med Countries

ARIMNet 2 (2014-2017) = Network of Funding Agencies and Agricultural

Research Organisations.

24 partners from 15 Mediterranean countries:

Algeria, Croatia, Cyprus,

Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain,

Tunisia, Turkey

Objective: to improve the coordination of Agricultural Research
