INTRODUCTION

This bibliography of the Hydrology and Hydraulic Development

of the Nile Basin is the first in a series of bibliographies on various sUbjeots which are planned for issue by the Economic Commission for Afrioa.

The present bibliography was prepared by the Natural Resources Division and the Library of the secretariat. It does not claim to

be exhaustive but COvers the most important works on the water resources of the Nile Basin. In January 1966 the first draft of this biblio- graphy was circulated to a number of Government officials in the countries sharing the Nile Basin. Thanks are due to those who were helpful in sending additional titles and in pointing out errors. With- out their contribution the present bibliography would have been less complete.

The coverage of this bibliography is of publications which the secretariat holds or of which it is cognizant. It should be noted that the listing of a title herein is no guarantee that copies can be obtained from the author or pUblisher.
