is a PhD candidate in History at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. His research focuses on the history of the Maoist movement in Nepal, especially the Masal party of Mohan Bikram Singh. He has carried out fieldwork in Pyuthan and Rolpa districts. He is a member of the ANR programme “La Guerre du Peuple au Népal”.

is a PhD candidate in Social Anthropology at EHESS, Paris.

His research focuses on the religious and political changes in Khotang district, Eastern Nepal, where he grew up and passed his SLC. He is a member of the ANR programme “La Guerre du Peuple au Népal”.

is Reader in Political Science, Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS), Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Author of numerous publications on politics in Nepal, he has recently published Local Democracy in South Asia: Microprocesses of Democratization in Nepal and its Neighbours, Sage, Delhi, 2008 (with D. Gellner). He also contributes to the ANR programme “La Guerre du Peuple au Népal”.

holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and a BA in Nepali from INALCO. She has made regular field trips to Nepal since 2001. She has been carrying out fieldwork on the peace process in Western Nepal and has recently been working for international organizations on reintegration programmes designed to target child soldiers in Nepal.

is a researcher in Social Anthropology, CNRS (UPR 299). Her recent publications include: Hindu Kingship, Ethnic Revival and Maoist Rebellion in Nepal, OUP, Delhi, 2009 and Bards and Mediums. History, Culture and Politics in the Central Himalayan Kingdoms, Almora: Almora Book Depot, forthcoming. She is currently coordinating a programme on the People’s War financed by the ANR (the French national agency for research).
