COMMISSION FOR AFRICA

Resolution 23(Hl) adopted by the Commission at its 48th plenary meeting on 15 February 1961

The Economic Commission for Africa?

Conscious of the increasing responsibilities of its Secretariat, Recognizing the importance of establishing sub-regional offices in order to deal effectively with economic problems peculiar to sub-

regions,

Noting that such sub-regional offices do not at present exist to deal effectively with problems of interest to member countries of sub-

regions,

Draws attention to item 19 of the Terms of Reference of the

Economic Commission for Africa which provides for the establishment of

sub-regional offices,

Requests the Executive Secretary to undertake forthwith a study of the possibility of and conditions for the establishment of sub-rogional offices of the Commission to deal with problems of sub-regional interest and to submit a progress report to the fourth session.
