Preface

This manual contains maintenance information about the IBM 3480 Magnetic Tape Subsystem and is intended for customer engineers responsible for servicing the 3480 tape subsystem.

This publication is designed to be used with the IBM Maintenance Device (MOl. Therefore. CEs using this manual should be familiar with that tool.

Prerequisite Knowledge

It is assumed that you have a background in data processing concepts and that you are familiar with the hexadecimal numbering system. stored program concepts. and have a basic understanding of tape subsystems and their relationship to a processor I/O channel.
