Attraction Package – Laboratory of Excellency CORTEX (University of Lyon – France)
The Lyon CORTEX consortium aims to understand the brain and human cognition, based on systems level studies of networks and interactions at multiple scales, going from neurons to individuals. Understanding cognition and its biological roots, but also its pathologies requires a comprehension of its genesis, its structure, and its physiology. CORTEX supports this integrative approach including human intracranial recording, brain computer interfacing, stem-cell biotechnology, non-human primate neurobiology, neuroimaging, clinical, cognitive and computational neuroscience and behavioural economics. This multidisciplinary approach linking systems level neurosciences and cell and molecular biology allows tapping into the resources of our brain for rehabilitation and the design of new therapeutic procedures. One further perspective will be to pave the way, via reverse engineering of the brain, to the emerging field of bio-inspired technologies.
To favour development of new teams, CORTEX is inviting applications from outstanding junior or established individuals for a 3-year package of 500 000€ (including salary for non-tenured laureate) starting between February and June 2017.
We are seeking candidates in a broad spectrum of scientific fields including:
• Stem cell biology and CNS development
• Large-scale network dynamics underlying perception, memory and action
• Neuroeconomics and behaviour
• Repair, remediation and training
Further information about CORTEX can be found here:https://labex-cortex.com/en
Applications must contain:
• CV
• List of publications
• 2-page Description of the scientific project
• 1-page description of major scientific findings
• 1-page description detailing integration in a specified research environment in Lyon
• Provisional budget
• Letters of support Deadline: 15 September 2016
