DICTÉE : Le retour

Je revenais de mon long exil. Cette terre que je n’avais pas foulée depuis un lustre m’apparaissait aujourd’hui plus chaude et plus aride que dans mon souvenir. Sa peau était craquelée, sa chair lapidée, son teint naturellement sombre avait pris des couleurs brunes et ocres ; ses plaies béantes étaient assoiffées de pluie. Mais je la retrouvais telle que je l’aimais…

Le long sentier qui menait au village était parsemé des mêmes baobabs aux troncs larges et aux bras tendus vers le ciel, comme pour implorer l’instance suprême, l’aumône de quelques gouttes de pluie. La terre lézardée à leur pied révélait sans pudeur que leurs prières avaient été vaines. Leurs racines se déchaussaient et partaient vers leur voisin lointain comme pour briser la solitude et s’unir dans leur sort.
