DEFINITIONS UTILES/ USEFUL DEFINITIONS
’’A pathobiont is a symbiont-a natural member of the human microbiota- that is able to
promote pathology only when specific genetic or environnmental conditions are altered in the host.’’
Un pathobiote est un symbiote- un composant naturel du microbiote humain- capable de favoriser une pathologie, si et seulement si les conditions génétiques spécifiques ou
environnementales sont perturbées chez l’hôte’’

QUELLE APPROCHE? HOW TO APPROACH THIS NOTION?
Dépistage des patients à risque: (Screening at risk-patients)
- Antécédents familiaux et fratrie (Family and siblings history) - Pathologies systémiques (systemic pathology)
- Bactériogramme (Bacteriogram)
- Tests génétiques de prédisposition à la maladie parodontale (Genetic tests of predisposition to periodontal disease)
Au stade préventif, un patient, avec ou sans prédisposition à la maladie parodontale, ne présente aucun signe clinique avéré de parodontopathie. (No evidence of clinical signs of periodontal disease on a patient at a preventive level)
La phyto-aromathérapie contribue à l’entretien d’une bonne santé parodontale, en maintenant les cofacteurs éventuels en-deçà d’un seuil d’expression, pour les sujets prédisposés. (Phyto-aromatherapy contributes to
a periodontal good health, by maintaining the predisposition co-factors below a set thresthold of expression

CONCLUSION
•
To conclude, an effective response to periodontal disease rest on the following questions:
•
First, what specifically are we up against?
We are faced with a process whereby the significant activity of facultative anaerobic pathogens contributes to modifying the sub-gingival space ecosystem, through their high level affinity for oxygen. Thereby making the sulcus becomes totally anaerobic. Electronegativity (redox
potential) and pH are modified enough to create new conditions for the strictly anaerobic microbiota to appear, develop, invade the periodontal area and eventually spread to the whole organism through the bloodstream.
•
Our second question is how to approach the phenomenon more specifically.
To make it short, this can be achieved through the functional classification which is induced by the diagnosis pentagon.
This up-front approach is complementary to-and does not replace the consensual clinical classification- including the more recent one (PAA, EFP, Chicago, USA, 2017).
•
Finally, why should resort to phytotherapeutic supplement?
The answer is to inhibit some microbial self-defence strategies against natural immunity or against antibiotics.
Indeed, through the essential oil that they contain, certain medicinal plants have proven their ability to inhibit some microbial self-defence
strategy against either natural immunologic tools or antibiotics which have no effect against the increasingly resistant organized flora.
