EB9.R49 Hygiene and Sanitation of Airports The Executive Board,

Having noted resolution WHA4.82 of the Fourth World Health Assembly on the hygiene and sanitation of airports ;

Taking into consideration the statement made by the Assistant Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization ;3 4 and

Desiring to set up a procedure for establishing standards for the hygiene and sanitation of airports,

1. INVITES the International Civil Aviation Organization to submit a memorandum to the Director-General of WHO enumerating the points which, in its opinion, require consideration in dealing with the problem;

2. REQUESTS the Director-General, in consultation as necessary with ICAO, to prepare a memorandum dealing with standards for the hygiene and sanitation of airports ;

3. RECOMMENDS that a committee of experts selected by ICAO and WHO consider this memorandum and formulate a draft text setting out the required standards ;

4. RECOMMENDS further that the appropriate organs of ICAO and WHO consider this draft, and finally that the agreed text be submitted to the World Health Assembly in order that the latter may recommend to Mem- ber States the adoption of the standards concerned, in accordance with Article 23 of the Constitution of the World Health Organization;

5. REQUESTS the Director-General to arrange that his commitments in the schedule detailed above be com-

pleted as quickly as possible. ( Ninth meeting, 25 January 1952)
