growing pigs, flaking

In
gut
contents ofpigs
killed one or three hours after a test meal thefollowing
was noticedafter flaked maize
feeding :
- a
higher
water content in thegut,
- a much slower water flow from the stomach, where the
a-amylase activity was higher
andthe
pH
decrease later and more marked.- - in the small
intestine,
starchdegradation
was intensive(ro to 3 0
foldhigher
soluble carbo-hydrate concentrations)
and couldexplain
thehigher
