Number of new cases and deaths from colorectal cancer by region and sex, 2012 and 2030

• It is estimated that by 2030 the number of new cases and deaths from colorectal cancer in both sexes in the Americas will increase by 61% and 68%, respectively.

• The survival rate for colorectal cancer, measured indirectly through the incidence/mortality ratio, varies widely between North America and the rest of the region.

• In countries such as Nicaragua or Haiti, there is almost one death for every new case of colorectal cancer, while in the United States and in Canada, there is one death for every three new cases.
