this, every part of the health system has to work in synchrony to contribute in an optimal way.

Academic institutions have a leadership role in the health system in order to ensure the continuance of its development with evidence that can really produce results. They should have a viable relationship with the health system, with public health constantly informing the strategic and policy dimensions for the necessary fine tuning and production of results.

Understanding each other’s roles and responsibilities within the health system will provide the intellectual security required for pursuing objective goals for nations.

Research, both basic and operational, is the hallmark of academic institutions globally.

These institutions should take up their due role and help to support the system to enable it to deliver the complex interventions it has been designed to undertake through the national programme. A complete programme of research needs to be developed and aligned with the realities of actual implementation in all areas of maternal, neonatal and child health and all endeavours renewed in order to support the health system to deliver services efficiently.

I once again assure you that the Regional Office will continue to provide support to realize this noble goal but all efforts have to be led by nation-building institutions such as Hamdard University.

Thank you very much.
