Finally, the best solution should be searched by minimizing the total cost function
whichthe maintenance costs are integrated. TheReliability-BasedLife Cycle Cost Opti-
mization(RBLCCO) aimsto ndthe best designand maintenance planning. Acommon
procedure consists inseparating the design and the maintenance. However, for some en-
gineering systems, the sequential searchof design andmaintenance costs maynot lead to
globally optimal costs, due to interaction between the dierent costs. In this work, the
design and maintenance optimization are coupled, which a comparative study between
the twoapproaches of theRBLCCO (sequentialandcoupled) shows theinterestofsimul-
taneously searchof the optimaldesignand maintenance policy, which thebest lowercost
is obtained.
