ASSESSMENT OF ANGOLA Report by the Director-General
Following the establishment of an assessment rate for Angola by the United Nations General Assembly, the Director-General recommends that the Health Assembly should now establish a definitive assessment rate for that M e m b e r , currently assessed at a provisional rate.
1. Action taken by the World Health Assembly
The Twenty-ninth World Health Assembly decided in resolution W H A 2 9 . 1 1 that A n g o l a , which became a Member of WHO in 1976, should be assessed at a provisional rate of 0 . 0 2 % for 1976 and future years, to be adjusted to the definitive assessment rate w h e n established by the World Health Assembly.
2. Matters to be considered by the Thirty-first World Health Assembly
The United Nations General Assembly, in resolution 32/39 adopted on 2 December 1977, established the assessment of Angola for 1976 and subsequent years at the rate of 0.02%.
Under these circumstances, the Health Assembly m a y wish to consider adopting a resolution along the following lines:
The Thirty-first World Health Assembly,
Recalling that the Twenty-ninth W o r l d Health Assembly, in resolution W H A 2 9 . 1 1 , fixed a provisional assessment for A n g o l a , to be adjusted to the definitive assessment rate w h e n established;
Noting that the General Assembly of the United N a t i o n s , in resolution 32/39,
established the assessment of Angola for 1976 and subsequent years at the rate of 0.02%;
Recalling the principle established in resolution W H A 8 . 5 , and confirmed in
resolution W H A 2 4 . 1 2 , that the latest available United Nations scale of assessment should be used as a basis for determining the scale of assessment to be used by WHO;
Recalling further that the Twenty-sixth World Health A s s e m b l y , in resolution W H A 2 6 . 2 1 , affirmed its belief that the scale of assessment in WHO should follow as closely as
possible that of the United Nations;
DECIDES that Angola shall be assessed for the years 1976, 1977 and 1978 at the rate of 0.02%.
