E. GAULT FINLEY is an Associate Professor and member of the De-partment of History and Philosophy of Education in McGill's Faculty of Education. He holds an Ed.D. in Social and Philosophical Founda-tions of Education from Columbia University.

NORMAN FRANCE, formerly Chief Educational Psychologist to the Kent Education ,Committee and President of the National Association of Inspectors and Educational Organisers (Britain), is now Associate Professor of Education at McGiIl. Dr. France, whose Ph.D. is from the University of London, is author or co-author of many publications, including the France-Wiseman EducationaJ, Guidance Programme and The Certificate of Secondary Education (Collins, 1965).

MARGARET GILLETT, editor of the McGill Journal of Education, is

Asso-ciate Professor andChairman of the Department of History and Philo-sophy of Education at McGiIl. Her doctorate in Education is from Columbia University and her professional writings include a history of education to be published this summer.

WAYNE HALL is Dean of the Faculty of Education, McGill University. Professor Hall's publications include Growth Through the Language Art8.

Paris, is Chairman of the Department of Language Instruction in McGill's Faculty of Education. Dr. Hawkins' essay in this Journal is taken from a manuscript he is

preparing for publication in book form.

MONIKA KEHOE is Professor of English and Chairman of Applied Lin-guistics at Marianopolis College, Montreal. Dr. Kehoe has her Ph.D. in English from Ohio State University and is a specialist in the teaching of English as a second language.

GERALD McKAY has his Ed.D. in Educational Psychology from Harvard University and is Chairman of McGill's Department of Educational Psychology.

MARSHALL McLuHAN is Director of the Centre for Culture and Tech-nology, University of Toronto. Dr. McLuhan is widely admired and respected for his ideas on communication theory and for his books

(The Mechanical Bride, The Gutenberg Galaxy, Under8tanding Media).

He has made public impact through his appearances on film, radio, and television.

DAVID MUNROE, formerly Director of McGill's Institute of Education, is Vice~Chairman of the Quebec Royal Commission of Inquiry on Educa-tion and Vice-Chairman of the Superior Council of EducaEduca-tion.

ROLAND J. WENSLEY is an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Methodology in Social Studies in McGill's Faculty of Education.

RICHARD WHITWELL is a graduate of the University of London and of McGill, Chairman of the Department of Methodology in Mathema-tics and Science in McGill's Faculty of Education.
