Learning French at the University of Tours

Learning French is essential if you wish to come to France for a long period and enjoy French Culture. It is advisable to learn French to integrate more quickly. It will help you as well to create your network and learn about your new living environment.

The UT Centre of French as a Foreign Language (CUEFEE), in partnership with the EURAXESS Service Centre in Tours and Doctoral Schools, offers you various French courses for international doctoral students and researchers during the university year, at competitive prices.

The CUEFEE is a member of the Campus FLE  network which unites all FLE-teaching University Campuses into an academic Association aimed at promoting French as a study language for university training.

CUEFEE's programs are guaranteed by the “Label Quality FLE” delivered by the CIEP (International Center for Pedagogical Studies) and recognized by the French Ministry of Education.

The learning methods focus on individual progress, encouraging students to actively participate and to live their learning experience by having direct contact with the French way of life.

Session 1 and 3 : Free of charge 

Session 2 : 125 euros (for Phd students registered at UT, please contact your Doctoral School for further information on tuition fees)

Program sessions :

1) from October 19th to November 20th 2020 - 12 hours - session 1

2) from November 23th to January 17th 2021 - 24 hours - session 2 (From A0 to A1 level)

3) from February 03d to April 03d 2021 - 32 hours - session 3

1. French classes for Beginners

Time schedule: Two times a week (2x1h30/2x2h) - after 5 p.m. - Monday and Tuesday / Wednesday

Along the acamedic year, UT International Relations Office and the Service of Doctoral Schools and Research are organizing free training – for complete beginners - in French as a foreign language.

This class is specially organized for PhD. students, Post-Doc Researchers, invited Professors and their spouse (researcher’s spouse). This is a unique occasion to get enrich your French basis for your daily life!

For the intermediate and advanced level, A2, B1, B2, C1, the courses will take place every semester during 12 weeks.

Up to 2 courses of 2 hours (each) per week are available for PhD. students, Post- Doc Researchers, invited Professors and their spouse (researcher’s spouse). You will be able to choose either one or two courses : oral French and written French
