CIRHILL INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM
(Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Histoire, Langue et Littératures) Université Catholique de l’Ouest-Angers
Esprit des mots et mots d’esprit
:Creation, interpretation and translation of frozen or defrosted speech phrases.
After studying languages and the relations between word, etymology and translation within a diachronic perspective, the CIRHiLL is organizing a colloquium on November 17 and 18 on the synchronic study of languages and their forms of translation.
The purpose of this meeting purpose is to analyze what the spirit of the writer (and that of his/her language) produces in terms of spontaneous creation, and what the translator will reproduce by using both competences (his own and that of the target language).
This study on phrases, as well as on terminology, may be of interest to linguists, literary critics, journalists, title specialists and language teachers. It will focus on the creation, interpretation and translation of defrosted speech phrases such as comparisons, images, metaphors, aphorisms, titles, neologisms…, used throughout literature and the press.
The defrosting (or de-fossilization) of frosted linguistic phrases (for example: advertisements) can also be taken into account.
Working languages : French, English, German, Spanish.
