A survey for childline has found that youngsters want their parents to extinguish their cigarettes in the new year.461 young people aged (11 to 16) from across Britain were asked what they wanted their parents’ new year resolutions to be. They answered that they wished their parents could give up smoking.

Young people who took part in the survey were also eager to have their voice heard and to have more control over their lives. 64% of young people surveyed wanted their parents to listen to them more.

Sixty one percent said that they wanted to be consulted about decisions that impacted on their lives. More than half of youngsters answered that they didn’t want their parents to shout at them and preferred not to be treated as kids.
