The Regional Director wishes to bring to the attention of the Regional Committee the following modifications to the Programme Budget for the financial period 1990-1991 as compared to the document which was presented to the

Committee in 1988:

The transfer of additional responsibilities and funding for the WHO Arabic Programme - from Headquarters to the Regional Office has results in an increase of $380 000 for this activity.

Adjustments for cost increases together with the use of a more realistic exchange rate of EGY PD 2.32 per US dollar as decided by the Director-General result in a decreased USS value of the Regional Budget not directly affecting, however. programme activities. The total regional budget is now US$67 376 000.

These adjustments affect only the regional/intercountry component of the total budget. The country totals as reviewed last year remain the same.

Mr Helmholz, Director Support Programme informed the Regional Committee that an additional allocation to the Regional Budget for the WHO Arabic Programme and adjustments for cost increases together with the use of a more realistic US dollar exchange rate for the Egyptian Pound led to a revised Regional Budget of $67 376 000. These adjustments affected only the regional/intercountry components; country totals remained the same.
