HAL is a multi-disciplinary open access archive for the deposit and dissemination of sci- entific research documents, whether they are pub- lished or not. The documents may come from teaching and research institutions in France or abroad, or from public or private research centers.

The electron-phonon coupling in mixed valence-systems is studied. Microscopic cal-.

culations similar to those for transition- metals are performed to determine the stren- gth of the electron-phonon coupling and the resultant phonon frequency shifts and line- widths for various mixed valence systems. It is shown that the hybridized f- and d- elec- trons couple most strongly to those lattice- modes which exert maximal volume deformation.
