RÉSUMÉ
Le but de cette
expérience
était depréciser l’importance
del’hypothyroïdie
dansl’étiologie
de la
myopathie
exsudative etdépigmentaire
du Porc. L’état fonctionnel de lathyroïde
a étéapprécié
Large
White. Il semble d’autrepart
que l’affaiblisse- ment de la fixationthyroïdienne
aille depair
avec unedégradation
desqualités
de la viande enparticulier
une diminution dupouvoir
de rétention d’eau.SUMMARY
THYROID ACTIVITY IN « LARGE WHITE » AND « PIETRAIN » PIGS
The aim of this
experiment
was to define moreaccurately
theimportance
of thehyperthy-
roidism in the
etiology
of the exudative anddepigmentary myopathy
in thepig.
The functional state of thethyroid gland
was estimatedby studying
thedevelopment
of theradioactivity
in thegland during
two weeks afterinjection
of radioactive iode andby
differenthistophysiological
tests. Our results show that in the Piétrain
breed,
oftensuffering
frommyopathy,
thethyroid
up take is much lower than that observed in theLarge
White breed. Moreover, it seems that the decrease of thethyroid uptake
is on apart
with a deterioration of the meatquality,
inparticular
a decrease of the water
