« Philosophy of Canonical Quantum Gravity » led by

Gabriel Catren (Principal Investigator)

The European Research Council (ERC) project Philosophy of Canonical Quantum Gravity announces a 3-year PhD position. The profile of the searched candidate is that of a candidate with a strong back- ground in mathematical physics interested in the conceptual and mathematical foundations of theoreti- cal physics. The chosen candidate is expected to work on one of the following areas:

• Philosophy of spacetime and gravitational theories.

• Philosophy of quantum mechanics in the light of symplectic geometry, geometric quantization and the theory of constrained Hamiltonian systems.

• Philosophy of quantum gravity.

Scientific environment: Laboratoire SPHERE (UMR 7219), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) – Universités Paris Diderot et Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, Paris, France.

Eligibility requirements: Eligible candidates must hold a university degree equivalent to a Master's degree in philosophy, physics or mathematics by July 31st, 2013.

Starting Date: October-November 2013.

Approximate net Pay: 1400 Euros per month.

mathematics;
